#TheWholeGrain - Three Years of Three Slices

Three years ago the first Sunday Single was released. The art was raw and not yet defined. If you look back at the first handful of Singles and compared them to the last handful you can clearly see it, but when something is new it's going to be like this. It needs to take its first breath. Maybe do a wiggle and move a little. Then it starts to get a little certain of itself and hopefully not in a way that makes it arrogant. Just confident enough that it starts to take those first steps towards becoming that which those who love it know it can be.

Those first few years are all about the excitement of just getting to move at all. And, it really is exciting!

Then something new needs to happen. Even with all this energy it has it needs to take a break from what it has been doing so that it can actually catch its breath and rest. Take a moment to look around and figure out that in front of it are multiple path ways. There has to be this moment, and it likely will not be the first time a moment like this occurs.

The question being, "What next?"

This can lead to a bunch of other questions... "What can be done?", "What should be done?", "Why should this be done this rather than that?", and "Can the old still be done while trying to accomplish the new?" These are just a few of so many questions that begin to come up when that moment of catching one's breath occurs.

Year Four

Bread and Toast enters into its fourth year very differently than it did going into the previous two. The final months of its third year were not as active. Production slowed down. Content stopped being posted. It was strange and looking back it even feels somewhat 'empty'. However, that moment happened where a breath needed to be taken. Rest needed to occur.

Year Four will likely feel this way for awhile. A lot needs to be managed now compared to when things got started. There needs to be a reorganizing of ideas as well as a lot that needs to be learned so that way there can be a future. There needs to be growth. That's what the yeast for, right? That bread needs some time to rise. Some time to expand. If its rushed then everyone is going to be disappointed with the loaf that gets produced, and we certainly do not want that to be the case.

The hope is that within this next year some solid growth can take place so that the bread can be better than ever!
