Daniel Prince has spent a good part of his adult life questioning the things most of us are taught to accept without much thought.

For years he worked in finance, living in Singapore and operating in the world of foreign exchange. On paper, it was the kind of life many people would call successful. But Daniel and his wife Clair began to question the trade-off that came with it: long hours, family life fitted around work, children fitted into a system, and very little space to ask whether any of it was actually making them happier.

So they changed it.

In 2014, Daniel and Clair left Singapore with their four children, sold most of what they owned and set off to travel as a family.

What followed was not a temporary escape from normal life, but a complete rethink of what normal life needed to look like in the first place.

Their children were educated outside the conventional classroom, learning through travel, experience and the people and places around them. The family embraced worldschooling, home exchanges and long-term travel, deliberately building a life around time together rather than around the timetables of work and school.

That willingness to question the obvious is perhaps the thread that runs most clearly through Daniel’s life.

And his years in finance did not leave him believing he had money neatly figured out.

Quite the opposite.

Daniel has spoken openly about how humbling it was to realise that, despite spending years working with enormous sums of money, he had never really stopped to ask one of the most basic questions of all:

What is money?

That question eventually took him deep into Bitcoin and later into podcasting.

Today he hosts Once BITten, where his conversations range far beyond price charts and technology. Money, education, sovereignty, family, freedom and the assumptions that quietly shape modern life all find their way into the discussion.

What makes Daniel interesting is that none of these things feel like separate chapters.

The finance career, leaving Singapore, worldschooling four children, writing, travelling, Bitcoin, podcasting — they are all part of the same instinct to examine the default setting before accepting it.

And it has never been a solo project.

Clair has become an educator in her own right through Women of Bitcoin, while their children have grown up surrounded by conversations about money, education, independence and freedom. Some have now begun contributing to Bitcoin education and media themselves.

There is something rather refreshing about Daniel’s approach.

He does not come across as a man determined to prove that he has all the answers.

If anything, his story is one of becoming increasingly comfortable with admitting when he doesn’t.

And then having the curiosity — and sometimes the nerve — to keep asking better questions.

Perhaps that is the real theme running through Daniel Prince’s work: not telling people what to think, but reminding them that they are allowed to think for themselves.

Question the defaults. Understand your choices. Then choose your life deliberately.
