Six Confirmations

This week Ocean Mining Pool hit a stretch of 10+ hours without finding a block — normal statistical variance for a smaller, self-block-building pool, but a real stress test for any miner depending on that payout. The letter breaks down why the math works this way and why the tradeoff (self-built blocks over a big pool's smoother payouts) is still worth it.

Ocean's block drought put miner nerves to the test this week.

At least one stretch pushed past 10 hours between blocks... a reminder that mining payouts are a Poisson process, not a paycheck. The math isn't broken when that happens, it's just what variance looks like for a pool that's still small next to the giants. But if you're pointed at Ocean and covering a power bill with the payout, a 10+ hour dry spell doesn't feel like a statistic.

Still worth it. Every block Ocean finds is one more block templated by the miner, not handed down by the pool.
