Moving to the Decentralized Fediverse After 9 Years of Travel

After nearly nine years of travel, I’ve moved my content away from Facebook and into decentralized networks like the Fediverse and Nostr. I now share travel stories, photos, and exclusive follower-only updates across Mastodon, Misskey, Pixelfed, and my Hive blog, focusing on privacy, openness, and cross-platform connection. The future, for me, is decentralized.

After traveling for almost 9 years, I decided to move my content to decentralized platforms. I want to share my journey and experiences in a lighter, more open way — away from Facebook and the heavy Meta ecosystem.

My Accounts in the Decentralized World#

I also link my blog posts from Hive: hive.blog/@rubenstorm on both Mastodon and Misskey accounts.

Why Decentralized?#

Most of my content — stories, photos, and updates — is for followers only 👁️. Exclusive content is available for subscribers. This approach gives me more control, privacy, and freedom, away from the constraints of centralized platforms.

I used the default Mastodon client for a while, which is very nice. My favorite client is Tusky for its minimalistic design, and for image posting and Misskey servers I use Fedilab. Fedilab is powerful, and Tusky keeps things simple.

It doesn’t matter where you register — the Fediverse is cross-platform and cross-server compatible, so you can follow me regardless of which server you choose.

The Future is Decentralized#

Meta’s business is not used much anymore in my workflow. The future is decentralized — Nostr and the Fediverse.
