We flipped the switch!! 🎉
After months of grinding, bug hunts, and great user feedback, plebeian.market is now 100% NIP-99 powered. No more legacy NIP-15... bye Felicia. Your migrated stalls are live, interoperable, and visible across every Nostr client that speaks the standard (
Shopstr Markets , Amethyst, Conduit Market, Coracle, Primal, etc). Listings you publish here show up everywhere. Listings anyone publishes anywhere show up here. No silos. No gatekeepers. Just open, Bitcoin only classifieds.
What Plebeian Actually Is (and Why We Built It This Way)#
Plebeian isn’t a company. It isn’t “the marketplace.” It’s open-source freedom tech. Think of it like this:
The Plebeian "app" = WordPress (you control your stall, products, bio) + eBay (P2P buying/selling...auctions... comingsoonTM), but 100% self-sovereign. 👑
You can run it on your own server, your own domain, your own node… or just use our easy instance at plebeian.market if you don’t want the hassle. 🕶
Built entirely on Nostr + NIP-99. That means zero custody. We never touch your money. Impossible for us to. Lightning zaps go straight from buyer → seller (and any V4V splits you choose). 🐱👤
No mandatory fees. When you sell, you decide what % (if any) gets donated back to Plebeian devs, to Bitcoin artists, local farms, indie schools, friends in need—whatever matters to you. The buyer pays, sats split automatically. Real circular economy, no extra steps. 🤸♀️
Fork it. Change it. Run your own version. No strings. Open source forever. ♾
The mission? Pump sats into independent, self-sovereign communities. Whether that’s your neighborhood makers, online Bitcoin creators, or local food producers. Every listing, every zap, every migrated stall makes the network stronger. We’re not building another centralized shop. We’re building tools so plebs can build their own economies, on their terms, with Bitcoin the ultimate freedom money.

Quick Tips: Don’t Let Shipping Block Your Sales!#
Quick heads-up for migrated shops: Many NIP15 → NIP99 products are live and looking sharp, but buyers can’t complete checkout without a shipping option attached. No shipping = cart abandonment = lost sales. 💌
substackcdn.comFix it fast in your Dashboard:
Head to Products > Shipping Options****
Click + Add Shipping Option (or use a template from the dropdown, like “Local Pickup”, “Digital Delivery” etc.)
Fill in information, pick Service Type, set price/delivery details.
Save. Once created, these options auto appear for new products you list or edit.
Pro move: Set up 2-3 general templates now and they apply site-wide. Migrated products won’t inherit old shipping, so go through your stall and assign the shipping options.
Do this today cuz your listings deserve to stack real sats, not sit in “view only” mode. 👁👁

V4V Splits (Optional):#
Want to support ongoing dev? Set your value-for-value split in Dashboard > Circular Economy . Not mandatory, 100% of your sats stays yours if you want. Pure opt-in freedom to fund the code/tech that keeps this sovereign.
substackcdn.comFresh from the Huddle 🛠#
Devs are hammering through every Github issue, polishing UI flows, squashing bugs, tightening up the site for that smooth, beautiful sovereign experience.
Small fixes first (migration edges, mobile quirks, query gremlins), then new features rolling in.
Got issues, suggestions, or feature ideas? Drop ‘em on Github, Telegram, or tag us on Nostr. Your input shapes this! 🐂
