The Prayers of a Depressed Saint.

The Prayers of the Psalmist.
Today we continue our study of Psalm 119, the longest of the Psalms and one arranged in an format of twenty two stanzas, each of which uses and emphasises one of the letters of the Hebrew alphabet.

The Motive for Telling the Good News.

Amen and Amen.

The Peace Of The Church.

Christ, The Head Of The Church.
Paul was concerned about making clear the relationship of Christ with His people. Sometimes his emphasis was on Christ’s people, His church, as His body. At other times, Paul’s emphasis was on Christ as the head, or Lord, of His church.

The Goal of the Church.
Christ has a goal, a supreme standard for His church, and that goal is so high, so exalted that it taxes the imagination to comprehend it. Nonetheless, here and now, in the body of this flesh, we are to strive to attain it.

Walking Worthily as a Church Member.
Paul said in Ephesians 4:2-3, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Let us measure ourselves by these two verses of Scripture. How far we fall short!

The Church, The Body of Christ.
Centuries ago the psalmist said in Psalm 139:14, I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. The human body is an awesome example of unity in diversity.

What Apostles Do?

Our Daily Bread.
Prayer begins with God ward concerns, but it does not end there. The first three petitions of the Lord's Prayer make petitions for the name, Kingdom, and the will of God. These must be the first concerns in our prayer life.

Thy Will Be Done.
“It is God’s will.” These words are often used to interpret the tragedies of life. In legal language, “an act of God” is used to explain the great catastrophes that bring so much suffering and ruin. Yet Jesus instructed us to pray, “Thy will be done.” Does that mean that we are praying for catastrophes and tragedies to fall upon us? Such tragic events are not what we find associated with God’s will in the Bible.

Our Father.
If we are to come boldly to the throne of grace to receive help in our time of need, we must know who sits on the throne. We must know who God is, and we must know what kind of person He is. We can learn a lot by considering our Lord’s most basic instruction on prayer.
