Patois Roots: How Jamaicans made a language of their own
The story of Jamaican Patois in eight plain steps, from the Ta'íno words you still use to the revival happening right now.
What Does Grace Mean? The Word, Its Biblical Weight, and What It Means to Notice It Everywhere
The word grace turns up everywhere once you start noticing it — on a shopfront, in a song, in an obituary — and this examination does two things at once. It gives the word its biography across three languages: the Hebrew chen, favour found in the eyes of someone with power; the Greek charis, charm and gift and gratitude; and the Latin gratia, where thanks and favour became one word long before any doctrine of salvation was built on it. And it weighs the noticing honestly, through the frequency illusion and the precise limit of what that explanation can carry, without resolving the question into a sermon. Along the way: why the respectable character is always the one offended by the generosity in the parables, the argument between Pelagius and Augustine, and Bonhoeffer on cheap and costly grace.

The Power of Words...
